Fiji Navigate
A standalone turn-by-turn navigation app for Fiji built on the same terrain and routing engine as the Fiji 3D Living Topography map.
The problem and the approach
Fiji Navigate provides Google Maps-style turn-by-turn directions across Fiji's road network. It shares its elevation model and OpenStreetMap routing data with the Fiji 3D Living Topography project but is packaged as a separate, purpose-built navigation tool.
The app is a progressive web app with offline support, a built-in Fijian music player streaming from the shared audio library, and a share function for planned routes.
What has been produced
- Live at fiji-navigate.vercel.app as an offline-capable PWA.
- Custom Fiji-flag navigation arrow icon and full PWA manifest.
- Integrated music player streaming the shared Fiji playlist.
- Sister-app linking between Fiji Navigate and Fiji 3D Maps.
Documentation can be shared for technical review on request.
What Fiji Navigate is not
Stated so that no reader has to infer it.
- Fiji Navigate uses OpenStreetMap road data which may be incomplete or out of date in rural areas.
- The app is not affiliated with the Fiji Roads Authority or any government transport agency.
